The Traffic & Roads Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has opted to modify the timing of using the paid public parking zones in the evening session during the holy month of Ramadan to become from 07:00 pm to 12:00 am (midnight), while maintaining the timing of the morning session unchanged i.e. from 08:00 am to 01:00 pm.
Adjusting the public parking use timing comes in the context of RTA strategy to develop integrated solutions of roads systems matching to the comprehensive development plans in Dubai Emirate, and in line with the highest standards applicable in this regard across the globe. The move also reflects RTA’s attention to deliver top-quality services to the public using public parking in the Emirate in a way that addresses their needs of this service.
Commenting on the Decision, engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said: “The Decision aims at streamlining the use of public car-parks as the density of traffic movement in the markets and business districts shifts during the holy month of Ramadan from the day time to post-Iftar (evening breakfast) time. Hence it was imperative to take a decision that goes in tandem with the movement of the business activities in the Emirate and ensures the provision of public parking in the evening (after Iftar). The Decision helps streamline the flow of traffic in all districts of the Emirate, reduces individual parking violations, and ensures greater accessibility of the parking lots during the peak times of the holy Ramadan”.
Maitha also indicated that the revised parking timing will be displayed on all signage of the public parking as well as the parking machines spread in the controlled parking zones across the Emirate.
