Since the onset of the global recession unemployment has risen and placed pressure on businesses to streamline their costs. In this economic climate it seems at first an unusual time to launch a recruitment consultancy in Dubai, but successful businessmen and entrepreneurs recognise that with change comes new opportunity.
Damien Lee, the Regional Director for Grouparmour Recruitment’s Middle East & North African arm sees just that opportunity in the UAE right now.
Grouparmour, a relative new comer to the Dubai employment market has been purposefully built on veterans from the recruitment sector. Damien himself has over 15 years experience working in the Middle East’s recruitment industry.
“We recognised from the start. Recruitment is about relationships. It’s about knowing both your client and your candidate. The success of any business but particularly so in recruitment is based on the people you employ.” Says Lee.
The recruitment industry has been troubled with scandals with agencies demanding ‘registration fees’ from candidates without ever having vacancies or an intention of placing the candidates within job-positions.
“Ethical business is good business as far as I am concerned. Our team carries a lot of credibility across from their previous positions. It’s important to build lasting relationships with clients and candidates, and that means providing a quality service where the value can be seen for everyone involved.” He says.
For a recruitment consultant to be effective they need to understand their client’s industry and the candidates work-experience in order to be able to match them correctly.
“At Grouparmour we cover ten industries from medical, construction & engineering to IT and more. With each industry supported by a dedicated consultant who has specialised within that industry through their career.”
With reports indicating that 52% of MENA companies are planning to recruit within the next few months, Lee is positive about the opportunities for Grouparmour.
“From the first day we opened doors we began taking job-briefs from clients. The market has been through a lot but the uncertainty is easing. Companies nowadays need to look for the right person for the job to help their business meet their targets or to expand. It’s no longer just a numbers game, it’s about quality.”
