Jaguar and Land Rover, two of the world’s most luxurious automotive brands were firm favorites of the judges at the CAR Middle East Awards, held on 15th December at Dubai’s Address hotel, Downtown Burj. The Jaguar XKR won ‘Convertible of the Year’, and Range Rover Sport triumphed when it was awarded ‘SUV of the Year’.
The Jaguar XKR already has a string of awards to its credit, including ‘The Most Desirable Car’ at the XVI Edition of the TELVA Motor Awards, ‘Car of the Year’ at What Car? Awards, and the 2008 Auto Style Awards. The XKR beat off fierce competition in the CAR Middle East Awards from the BMW Z4 and the Ferrari California.
The 2010 XKR is seductive, powerful and elegant; introducing revised exterior and interior styling that underlines Jaguar’s contemporary thinking on design. With the introduction of all-new 5.0-litre direct-injection V8 engines, the XKR comes with improved power, performance, efficiency and less CO2 emissions.
The 2010 Range Rover Sport also proved a popular choice for the judges, triumphing over none other than its stable-mate, the recently launched Land Rover LR4 and the Toyota Sequoia.
The Range Rover Sport is the most exciting and dynamic vehicle in the Land Rover line-up, with a comprehensive package of engineering and design changes for the 2010 model year. The Range Rover Sport’s stylish new appearance signals the transformation under the skin, which includes powerful and efficient new engines – the LR-V8 naturally aspirated and LR-V8 5.0-litre supercharged- enhanced levels of interior craftsmanship and refinement, and significant improvements to both on-road and off-road driving dynamics.
Robin Colgan, Managing Director, Jaguar & Land Rover Middle East North Africa said “We are proud to have received these awards from one of the most respected automotive publications in this region. The 2010 Jaguar XKR has received rave reviews since its launch in the Middle East earlier this year and the ‘Convertible of the Year’ award is testament to Jaguar’s commitment to designing, manufacturing and marketing beautiful, fast cars.
Of course we are equally thrilled that Range Rover Sport picked up the prestigious ‘SUV of the Year’ award. The new design theme for the 2010 Range Rover Sport emphasises its position as the most dynamic model in the range, creating a sporting, cleaner and more sculpted appearance.”
